EU Space Act readiness

Space-weather resilience is becoming a board-level and compliance-level issue.

SKEION aims to help satellite stakeholders document natural space-environment hazards, analyse events and structure their mission-resilience workflows.

SKEION does not provide legal advice or certification. This page presents how SKEION can support technical readiness, documentation and operational resilience in relation to emerging European space regulation.

Why it matters

The regulatory direction is clear: resilience must be documented.

The proposed EU Space Act — presented by the European Commission in June 2025 and still being negotiated by the Council and the European Parliament — is structured around safety, resilience and sustainability. Even where space weather is not the sole focus, satellite operators and industrial stakeholders increasingly need to show that natural space-environment hazards are considered in risk management, mission continuity and incident analysis.

This creates a practical need for better documentation:

  • 01space-weather risk context
  • 02natural-radiation threat context
  • 03anomaly review support
  • 04mission continuity evidence
  • 05historical event analysis
  • 06operational lessons learned
Where SKEION fits

Tools we are building to support your evidence.

From its solar and space-weather analysis, SKEION is building tools and reports intended to let mission teams assess, reduce and document risk themselves. The four modules below are in development: none is available yet.

In development

Event Replay

An interactive tool that will let you replay and explore past solar events — the physical drivers and magnetic structures behind them — to build understanding in-house.

In development

Pre-launch Risk Report

An automated, parametric report that will estimate space-weather and natural-radiation exposure for a planned mission and launch window — to reduce risk before launch.

In development

Anomaly Context

A report, designed to be generated on demand, that will correlate a satellite anomaly window with space-weather conditions — environmental context and evidence, produced automatically.

In development

Risk Indicators & API

Uncertainty-aware solar-risk indicators, to be delivered into your own monitoring and resilience tools through integration-ready outputs.

Clear boundaries

What SKEION does not do.

SKEION is being built to provide space-weather intelligence, evidence and physical context that support better decisions and documentation. SKEION is not:

  • a legal compliance advisor
  • an EU Space Act certification provider
  • a collision avoidance system
  • a cyber or RF monitoring platform
  • a replacement for institutional space-weather services
  • a root-cause authority for every satellite anomaly
